"Harmony 224" by Jeffrey Leder
"Harmony 224" is an 10 × 8 × 1.5” gesso, flashe vinyl paint on birch cradled panel with a protective overcoat of polyurethane piece by Jeffrey Leder and valued at $560.
“Born in NYC, 1946
The more I consider why I make art, the more I realize it’s about pleasure. The pleasure of solving and creating sometimes beyond myself – beyond what I had imagined.
Moved to Puerto Rico, Age 11
I quite enjoy sketching, pencil lines on textured paper. Line delineating form – color painted on wood or canvas to follow.
Returned to NYC, Age 19
Am intrigued by the relationship between form and color: how size, shape, intensity of color affect each other within a given space; how colors and forms can be dissonant and harmonious at the same time.
I strive for my artwork to transmit a spiritual order. Through a formal structure emerges an emotional expression via color. The objective is to achieve a certain purity through the art.
Now living in Greenville, SC
I make art to achieve harmony within myself, to explore my capabilities and share with others that which I have discovered.
I enter into a mindful space as I sketch, prepare a surface, select colors, and lay down paint.”
